This premium motherboard, which supports PCI Express bandwidth up to 5GT/s (gigatransfers per second), is targeted for mainstream professional desktop PC users requiring higher performance to fully enjoy digital media experiences, such as gaming and video.

The IDT 89HPES16T7, adopted by ASUS, is a 16-lane, 7-port PCI Express switch. The flexible architecture with its numerous configuration options helps customers, such as ASUS, overcome I/O limitations to accomplish system expansion design with more endpoints at optimal cost efficiency while providing simplified design architecture. The IDT switching solution is uniquely configurable to address the I/O connectivity challenges faced by systems requiring a blend of basic connectivity as well as more demanding, high performance connectivity on a single chip.
