ASTROTECH INTERNATIONAL SUBSIDIARY ESTABLISHES INSPECTION AND ENGINEERING SERVICES DIVISION

PITTSBURGH, Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- S. Kent Rockwell, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Astrotech International Corporation (AMEX: AIX) announced that its HMT Inc. subsidiary has established an Inspection and Engineering Services Division offering a full-line of aboveground storage tank inspection and engineering services. This Division offers sophisticated inspection and engineering services required to determine aboveground storage tank compliance with environmental regulations and newly enacted industry standards. These services include Ultrasonic Thickness Testing and Hydrostatic Testing, both designed to test aboveground storage tank structural integrity, primary and secondary seal inspection and gap measurement, floating roof pontoon inspection and leak detection, weld seam testing and visual sight inspection.
Mr. Rockwell said that "Robert Burns has joined the Company as Manager of the Inspection and Engineering Services Division. Bob brings extensive experience in the aboveground storage tank inspection market, having held general management positions at both CTI, Inc. and MQS Inspection. Bob also has extensive tank inspection marketing experience, particularly in the Gulf Coast Region."
Mr. Rockwell also said the orders received during the first quarter for aboveground storage tank inspection and engineering services indicate that market growth in this Division will be driven in large part by recently enacted industry standards, as well as, other state and federal legislative requirements.

These services and products enable its customers to comply with increasingly stringent environmental regulations and to improve operating efficiencies.
