ASTRA AB PURCHASES 50 PERCENT STAKE IN JOINT VENTURE WITH MERCK.


WHITEHOUSE STATION, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--November 1, 1994--Astra AB, Sweden's leading pharmaceutical company, announced today that it has paid Merck & Co., Inc., the world's largest prescription drug prescription drug Prescription medication Pharmacology An FDA-approved drug which must, by federal law or regulation, be dispensed only pursuant to a prescription–eg, finished dose form and active ingredients subject to the provisos of the Federal Food, Drug,  company, $820 million for a share in a joint venture.
