AST's Ascentia 900N receives top notebook honor; Long battery life and large, bright color display put Ascentia 900N over the top with PC LapTop Computers Magazine editors.


LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 16, 1994--AST Computer's Ascentia 900N beat the competition taking PC LapTop Computers Magazine's Notebook of the Year honor. The Ascentia 900N was singled out in the publication's 1994 Editors Choice Awards as being the best of the best, among a field of four semifinalists from Compaq, IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries)  and Toshiba. The award was presented during a special presentation at PC LapTop Computers Magazine's fourth annual awards breakfast held during the Comdex/Fall trade show.

PC LapTop Computers Magazine's editors applauded the notebook market for delivering the best ever crop of high-end notebook computers giving users a terrific combination of color not of the white race; - commonly meaning, esp. in the United States, of negro blood, pure or mixed.

Editors also praised AST (AST Computer, Irvine, CA) A PC manufacturer founded in 1980 by Albert Wong, Safi Quershey and Tom Yuen (A, S and T). It offered a complete line of PCs that sold through its dealer channel.  for designing a "friendly" machine that boasts an outstanding keyboard with a built-in pointing device An input device used to move the pointer (cursor) on screen.
