Bill Frist. The Animal Health Institute, Washington, D.C., has named Kent D. McClure general counsel. Previously McClure practiced law with Cowles & Thompson in Dallas, where he represented physicians, nursing homes, hospitals, nurses and other health providers in state and federal courts. He also practiced veterinary medicine in Texas. AHI names Dr. Dennis D. Copeland, director of industry and government relations with Bayer Animal Health, as the recipient of its 2000 Majon Huff Award. The award is presented annually to an AHI member in recognition of outstanding commitment, leadership and service to AHI and the industry. Pat Getter In vacuum or gas-filled tubes, it is a small, ring or cup-shaped device containing a powdered metal that reacts strongly to oxygen. When the tube is sealed, the getter is fired (heated) to further evacuate a vacuum tube or to remove impurities from the gas. Firing causes the getter material to oxidize and absorb any free oxygen in the tube, which would otherwise oxidize the active electrodes and decrease the tube's life. has been named vice president of communications for the American Crop Protection Association, Washington, D.C. Paul E. Kindinger has announced his resignation as president and CEO of the Agricultural Retailers Association, Washington, D.C. He will be leaving ARA Ara or Arrah (both: ŭ`rə), city (1991 pop. 157,082), Bihar state, NE India, on the Son Canal.
