ASSET(R) Works to Include System-Level Boundary-Scan Test into the MicroTCA Spec; As First Boundary-Scan Company in PICMG, ASSET Defines JTAG's Implementation in Industry Standard.

RICHARDSON, Texas -- By being the first boundary-scan (IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, New York, www.ieee.org) A membership organization that includes engineers, scientists and students in electronics and allied fields.  1149.1/JTAG) company to join the PCI (1) (Payment Card Industry) See PCI DSS.

(2) (Peripheral Component Interconnect) The most widely used I/O bus (peripheral bus).
Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group (PICMG An industry consortium that develops specifications for backplanes and interconnects for electronic equipment in the industrial and telecom fields. It was founded in 1994 as the PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group, hence the acronym. ), ASSET InterTech, Inc. (www.asset-intertech.com) is helping to define a system-level JTAG (Joint Test Action Group) An IEEE standard for boundary scan technology. See scan technology.

architecture as part of the Micro Telecom Computing Architecture (MicroTCA) standard. Many telecommunications equipment manufacturers are turning to boundary-scan as a test and diagnostic technology for entire systems.

ASSET is an international leader in boundary-scan (IEEE 1149.1/JTAG) test and in-system programming (ISP (1) See in-system programmable.

(2) (Internet Service Provider) An organization that provides access to the Internet. Connection to the user is provided via dial-up, ISDN, cable, DSL and T1/T3 lines.
). Its ScanWorks(R) boundary-scan system has advanced system-level capabilities and has been adopted extensively in the telecommunications industry by companies such as Lucent Technologies, Ericsson, Alcatel, Cisco and others.

"Early on the MicroTCA committee realized the critical importance of including an embedded test methodology in the standard," said Mike Franco, chairman of the PICMG MicroTCA committee and president of Signal Stream Technologies, LLC, Madison, WI. "We knew that ASSET is an expert in remote system-level JTAG test deployment, so we are very excited that they have joined our committee."

ASSET has joined PICMG's MicroTCA standards committee and also is consulting with the Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture[1] is the largest specification effort in the history of the PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group (PICMG), with more than 100 companies participating.  (AdvancedTCA) committee. AdvancedTCA is being implemented in next-generation carrier-grade communications equipment, as well as in military/aerospace, medical, and enterprise computing applications.

"As the leading boundary-scan supplier to the telecommunications industry, we believe it is imperative for us to invest our time and effort into standard-setting activities such as this," said Alan Sguigna, vice president of sales and marketing for ASSET.

ASSET has been an industry leader in implementing boundary-scan at the level of an entire system. Its ScanWorks system has enhanced system-level capabilities such as support for embedded JTAG controllers, software conversion into compact binary formats and support for the JEDEC The division of the Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA) that deals with semiconductor standards (officially, the JEDEC Solid State Technology Association of EIA). JEDEC was formed in 1958 when the Joint Electron Tube Engineering Council (JETEC) split into two Joint Electron Device  standard embedded control language, STAPL STAPL Standard Test and Programming Language (Jam)

, which is deployed in system-level applications.
