ASSEMBLYMAN OPENING VALENCIA OFFICE NEXT MONTH.
Assemblyman George Runner, the Lancaster Republican whose sprawling district includes the Santa Clarita Valley, will open a district office late next month in Valencia.
The office, in the Santa Clarita City Hall building, will be staffed by field director Linda Johnson and office manager Jackie Bick.
Runner expects to be in the office Thursday afternoons when the Assembly is in session. When the Assembly is out of session, he expects to be in the Valencia office about two days a week.
``This will be a full-service office. This will enable us to have all the computer hook-ups,'' Runner said.
``With over 40 percent of the land mass in Los Angeles County, I felt that in order to provide proper representation for my constituency, we needed two district offices - one in the Antelope Valley and another in the Santa Clarita Valley,'' Runner said.
``We've been negotiating this with the Speaker's Office for about two months.''
