ASSEMBLY CANDIDATE READY TO OUTSPEND 9 COMPETITORS.Byline: Lee Condon Daily News Staff Writer John Geranios was a political unknown in the race for in the 43rd Assembly District, until the 33-year-old Republican broke out his checkbook. Geranios, the owner of a Burbank business that helps students prepare for college, has so far plowed $286,000 of his own money into his campaign and will add more if necessary to raise the $500,000 he says is needed. "Money enables us to get our message out," he said. But opponents in the crowded, 10-candidate race say Geranios is trying to buy the race. "We'll see if a guy can come out of the blue and spend a lot of money and win," said Pete Musurlian, 34, another Republican candidate who expects to spend between $60,000 and $90,000 in the March 26 primary. "He's going to outspend out·spend tr.v. out·spent , out·spend·ing, out·spends 1. To spend beyond the limits of: outspends his earnings. 2. everyone 2 to 1 if not 3 to 1." Geranios bristles at the suggestion that he's trying to buy the seat. "We're not just coming in as a stealth candidate dropping (campaign) mail," he said. "We're walking precincts. The 43rd Assembly District, which takes in Burbank and part of Glendale, has been a Republican stronghold for years, and whoever wins the March 26th primary will be a heavy favorite in the general election. Born in Long Beach, he attended the public schools of Glendale and earned a B.A. from the UCLA and a J.D. from the USC School of Law in 1949. .
