ASSAULT No2 ON A RECTOR; Boy, 13, expelled after he attacks head in classroom.
A TEENAGE boy has been expelled from school for attacking his head teacher, it was revealed yesterday.
The incident emerged just days after shocking pictures of a "happy slapping" attack on another Scots rector were published.
In the latest incident, police were called after a 13-year-old boy went for David Nicholls, head of Gleniffer High in Paisley.
The teenager has nowbeen kicked out of the school and police are investigating.
Teaching unions are calling for immediate action to protect their members following the assault and the "happy slapping" attack on Hawick High rector Alan Williamson.
A source at Gleniffer High said Mr Nicholls was attacked when he was called in to deal with an argument between the boy and a teacher.
The source said: "Things started to get heated and the other pupils were put out of the class.
"Mr Nicholls dealt with it all exactly by the book but when the boy lashed out at him they had to bring the police in."
Another school source said: "Everyone at Gleniffer is horrified by this. It's no wonder this young thug has been banned from setting foot in the school ever again."
Two pupils at another Paisley school, St Andrew's Academy, were suspended last month for bullying their French teacher.
In one incident, a pupil screamed in her face and a classmate used a mobile phone to record footage of the distressed teacher before putting it on the internet for other kids to gloat over.
A spokesman for Renfrewshire Council confirmed the pupil in the latest incident had been excluded.
He added: "Although shaken, the member of staff did not require hospital treatment and is working with social work staff to ensure the education of this pupil continues in an environment that is best suited to the individual's needs."
A police spokesman said: "A Glennifer High pupil has been reported to the Reporter to the Children's Panel following an incident at the school."
