ASSA Council feedback. From the ASSA Council meeting held on 3 February 2009, the following items may be of interest to members: Gerrit Penning has resigned as Webmaster due to pressure from work commitments. He had been replaced by Christian Hettlage, a computer programmer at SALT, with effect from February 2009. Centres are requested to inform us of any IYA2009 events planned by them and to send accounts of your events, for publication in MNASSA. Council expressed their sympathy to the Fairall family concerning the death of Tony Fairall. ASSA has donated R5 000 to the trust fund set up by Tony Fairall's family to provide every school in South Africa with a copy of his latest book, Starwise. The book is aimed at 11 to 14 year-olds and was Tony's dream for IYA2009. Case Rijsdijk (EPC Section director) encourages all ASSA Centres to give public talks on Tony Fairall's Project Star Wise and to raise funds at the same time to further ASSA's contribution to the project (see pp. 45 & 66). |
