The event was presented by ITFlorida.com, a State of Florida task force designed to explore communications networks and information technologies.

In a presentation, Gruen-Kennedy detailed the success of the Consortium, as it has grown from 25 members just seven months ago to more than 260.

Gruen-Kennedy also pointed to Florida as a fast-growing center for start-up ASP businesses. One reason for this, Gruen-Kennedy said, is that the Sunshine State features low taxes, high quality of life, low housing costs and good commuting times, when compared with some other high-tech centers.

"The continued rapid growth of the ASP Industry Consortium demonstrates that this industry is one of the hottest in the technology sector," said Gruen-Kennedy. "As we continue to grow at this strong pace, we are gaining international influence. And as more and more players in the ASP industry locate here in Florida, you could say it is replacing Silicon Valley with ASP Valley."
