ASME Chooses ALGOR FEA for Upcoming Seminars.

Business Editors

PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 12, 2004

ALGOR, Inc., a leading provider of design, analysis and simulation software, announced that its software and training materials have been chosen for two upcoming ASME ASME - American Society of Mechanical Engineers  (American Society of Engineers) professional development seminars. "Finite Element Analysis Finite element analysis (FEA) is a computer simulation technique used in engineering analysis. It uses a numerical technique called the finite element method (FEM). There are many finite element software packages, both free and proprietary.  (FEA) Theory and Modeling with ALGOR" will be held on February 21, 2004 at the Reeves E. Ritchie Training Center in Russellville, Arkansas and "Finite Element Analysis in Practice" will be hosted by the University of Pittsburgh on March 10, 2004. Beyond providing FEA theory, these hands-on seminars feature practical examples to guide participants through the FEA process.

"The ASME Arkansas Section is benefiting greatly from ALGOR's support of our efforts to provide low-cost, professional development training for our membership," said Gerald Loftis, P.E., Chairman of the Professional Development Committee for the ASME Arkansas Section. "ALGOR's representatives have been outstanding in their willingness to customize their FEA training modules to meet our special need for short courses with a high level of technical content suitable for practicing engineers. The training materials, software and timeliness of support have been exceptional as well."

"Part of ASME's mission is to provide high-value seminars on in-demand skills such as FEA to our members," said Jeffrey Vipperman, Ph.D., who is an officer, executive committee member and member of the board of directors for the ASME Pittsburgh Section and an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh. "With ALGOR's support, we have been able to offer seminar participants the opportunity to be trained by a professional FEA instructor using industry-proven FEA software in a state-of-the-art computer facility at a minimal cost."

"ALGOR has been extremely supportive of ASME at the national and regional level and, as a non-profit organization, we are appreciative of their generosity," said Albert R. Bouvy, Director of Professional Development for the ASME Pittsburgh Section and the Manager of Sales and Technical Support Services at ATS-Chester Engineers. "In addition, this seminar will be helpful to our members because ALGOR is an industry-leading and user-friendly FEA tool."

ALGOR software provides a wide range of simulation capabilities including static stress and Mechanical Event Simulation (MES (Manufacturing Execution Software) Software that provides real time access to plant activities that include equipment, labor, orders and inventory. An MES integrates the data with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems so that management has complete control of ) with linear and nonlinear material models, linear dynamics, steady-state and transient heat transfer, steady and unsteady fluid flow, electrostatics electrostatics, study of phenomena associated with charged bodies at rest (see charge; electricity). A charged body has an excess of positive or negative charges, a condition usually brought about by the transfer of electrons to or from the body. , full multiphysics and piping. These analysis capabilities are all available within a complete and easy-to-use interface, FEMPRO, that supports a wide range of CAD solid modelers and includes finite element meshing and model-building tools.
