 ASM INTERNATIONAL N.V. ESTABLISHES INTEGRATED FRONT-END BUSINESS
 BILTHOVEN, the Netherlands, June 29 /PRNewswire/ -- In a major policy statement for the ASM International Group (NASDAQ: ASMIF) (ASMI), the developers and producers of equipment and devices for the worldwide semiconductor industry, the president of ASMI, Arthur del Prado announced that his board has agreed to establish an integrated front-end business comprising all front-end activities in Europe, the United States and Japan.
 "Our main task in the immediate future will be to establish a profitable global front-end business, and ready it for further growth in the future," stated del Prado. "The continuing profitability and success of our back-end business is very visible and well-known, as I reported earlier this month in our annual report," he added.
 It was also announced that Prado will temporarily act as the chief operating officer for ASM's global front-end business, as well as maintaining his position as president and CEO of ASM International. Effective July 1, 1992, Robert E. Howells has resigned as vice president front-end operations of ASM U.S.A. and ASM Europe.
 Effective July 3, 1992, L. David Sikes has resigned as president and CEO of ASM America and its subsidiary companies. Sikes has accepted the position of president and COO of Ramtron Inc. in Colorado Springs, Colo., a manufacturer of non-volatile memory devices.
 Replacing Sikes, and resuming a post he held for the previous five years, is John E. Krickl, who will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of ASM America, ASM Epitaxy and ASM Vertical Technology.
 Advanced Semiconductor Materials International N.V. (ASM International), headquartered in Bilthoven, the Netherlands, designs, manufactures and markets equipment and materials used to produce semiconductor devices. The company provides production solutions for the wafer processing, assembly and encapsulation areas through its facilities in Japan, the United States, Europe and Asia. U.S. operations are headquartered in Phoenix Ariz.
