PHIL NEVILLE Philip John Neville (born January 21, 1977 in Bury, Greater Manchester) is an English footballer, who plays for Everton. He previously played for Manchester United. He is younger brother of Manchester United captain Gary Neville, and the twin of England netball international  claims it will be agony for his mum and dad watching him play against brother Gary on the opening day of the season.

Neville's parents, Neville and Jill, have spent their lives cheering the two brothers on for Manchester United and England.

But that partnership ended with Neville's pounds 3.5million switch to Everton and he admits it will be tough for them as he faces Gary for the first time when United visit Goodison Park next Saturday.

The Nevilles have not played against each other since they were kids kicking a ball about in their back garden and Phil admits it will be weird facing his brother and best friend.

"I've never played against him before in a match," he said. "This will be the first time and it will be interesting. We've never been in direct competition before.

"From the age of eight, I've always played in the same team as him. I've always been in the same dressing room as him.

"In a way it's probably harder leaving that kind of situation than it was leaving Manchester United because he's my brother at the end of the day.

"It doesn't matter what colour I play in, he will always be my brother and he will always be my best friend.

"I'm glad it's the first game of the season from a personal point of view so that I can get it out of the way.

"It will be strange, but it will probably be more difficult for my mum and dad than for me or my brother.

"From my mum and dad's point of view, they will not be looking forward to Saturday, but they will be happy if we're happy.

"And I'm happy at the moment, they're delighted for me and Gary's delighted for me. It will be a case of if the best team wins, then we will all go home happy."

Neville, 28, consulted Gary over moving to Everton and says he fully supports his decision to leave Old Trafford Old Trafford commonly refers to two sporting arenas:

after 18 trophy-laden years at the club.

"He's the first person I call for advice because, the type of advice he gives is brother to brother rather than team-mate to team-mate," he said.

"He realised I needed to play more football and he's been very supportive of my move."

"I'm sure the Manchester United fans will still sing that song about Gary, but they never sang it about me," he said. "It's something my new manager David Moyes David William Moyes (b. "If I thought it would be a problem coming here, I wouldn't have signed. I think I've shown my commitment to the club by coming here and signing a five-year contract.

"And the reaction from the fans over the last few days has been better than I ever imagined. Fans have been stopping me in their cars and one even showed me the way to the training ground from the motorway. The reaction has been brilliant and I couldn't have asked for better."

against Villarreal at Goodison Park and he has warned his new team-mates to beware of an old friend from his United days.

"We've got to watch out for Diego Forlan," he said. "He struggled in England because of the physical side of the game, but he went to Spain and finished top scorer and you've got to be some player to do that."
