It has a population of 142,670. potash exploration program in northeast Thailand, and the resource delineated to date now exceeds 200 million tonnes of high grade sylvinite sylvinite: see potassium chloride. ore. Assayed ore grades typically vary from about 25% to 30% K2O and the resource is located at depths from about 250m to 370m below the surface. The resource examined to date appears to extend in several directions, particularly to the southeast. It covers an approximate area of 30 sq. kms, or less than 2% of the company's 2,333 sq. kms. potash concession area, located some 15 to 20 kms southeast of the city of Udon Thani. The present (pre-feasibility) field programs, which have included some 150 kms. of reflection seismic surveys, will be completed by late-April. A further 10-12 drill holes will be completed to further define the extent of the presently identified resource and also to examine the possible extension to the northwest by drilling four or five holes in the vicinity of DMR (Digital Media Receiver) See digital media hub. hole K-83 located some 15 kms. northwest of the present project area. Upon completion of these field programs an independent pre-feasibility report will be prepared. This will be followed by an extensive project feasibility study program which will include provision for construction of a trial mine and pilot processing plant to fully evaluate the resource and confirm the mineability of the ore body. Subject to the successful completion of such programs, the resource has the potential to supply some two million tonnes of potash (KCl), for an initial mine life of about 25 years, to the growing fertilizer markets of southeast Asia and China.
