ASIA PACIFIC RESOURCES -- INITIAL DRILLING PROGRAMS ALMOST COMPLETED -- PRE-FEASIBILITY STUDY COMMISSIONED.

VANCOUVER, B.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--APRIL 28, 1995--ASIA PACIFIC RESOURCES (TSE,VSE:APQ). Pre-feasibility field programs at the initial area of interest on the company's Udon Thani potash concession in northeast Thailand are now essentially completed, and an independent pre-feasibility report is now under preparation.

A total of 52 diamond drillholes have now been completed and these have defined a significant high-grade potash (sylvinite) deposit, encompassing some 250 million tonnes, trending in a northwest-southeast direction. Additional drilling programs planned for late -1995 will explore the southeast extension to the deposit while a reconnaissance drilling program (presently being completed) examines the northwest extension.

Preliminary results for the balance of the 1994/5 drilling program in the initial area of interest have now been received. Assay results for these will be published shortly. -0-

Several of these holes were located to test the northeastern and northwestern limits of the deposit (holes #47, 50, 51 and 52), while holes #45,47 and 48 continue to demonstrate the potential for extension of tonnage in a southeasterly direction. As the apparent northern limits of the present resource are approached, both thickness and grade are seen to decline.

Drilling and seismic programs have proven the existence of a substantial potash deposit in this strategically located region of Thailand. The total extent of the deposit has yet to be quantified, but the average deposit grades, shallow depth to the deposit and apparent absence of any water bearing strata overlying the deposit augur well for the development of a large potash mine.

The on-going reconnaissance drilling program which is examining the area to the south of drillhole K-83, over a trend extending some 10 kms, has been expanded to include 8 or 9 drillholes at wide spacing. Early results from the program are most encouraging, and it is expected that the program will be completed by mid-May.

Asia Pacific Resources Ltd. holds a 75% equity interest in the Udon Thani potash concession. The concession encompasses an area of 2,333 sq. km and is located some 500 kms from Bangkok. -0- Gerald D.
