ASIA PACIFIC -- FURTHER EXPANSION OF HIGH GRADE POTASH RESOURCE IN THAILAND.

VANCOUVER, BC--(BUSINESS WIRE)--JANUARY 11, 1995--ASIA PACIFIC (VSE: APQ) Additional diamond drilling results have now been received from the company's ongoing exploration programs at its Udon Thani potash project in northeast Thailand. The results indicate steadily increasing reserve tonnage and emphasizes the potential for significant expansion of the mineable potash resource, particularly to the east and south of the existing drilled area.

Results from a further ten holes have now been received, three of these being drilled to test "structural highs" identified from seismic surveys. One of these holes (No.27) intersected potash (in excess of one metre of sylvinite at a depth of about 185 metres). Hole No.31, adjacent to and due east of No.27, intersected the lower salt layer at only 140 metres, whereas hole No.32 intersected this layer at about 210 metres. Where potash is present, it is always located at the top of the lower salt layer.

Holes No.28, 29 and 30 were drilled in the northwest of the project area and intersected sylvinite intervals ranging from 2.4 to 4.6 metres, demonstrating a continuation of the deposit in a northwest direction towards drillhole K-83 some 15 kms away. Hole K-83 intersected two thick intervals of high grade sylvinite, and it is proposed to conduct a limited drilling program in its vicinity in the near future.

The remaining holes were drilled to the east and south of the previous drilling and show a continuation of the resource in those directions, adding substantially to the reserve base. High grade sylvinite intersections ranged from 2.9 to 3.6 metres, tending to confirm a probable mining thickness of about three metres or more. -0-

Drilling results from holes No.34, 37 and 39 are expected shortly, these being drilled in the southeast of the project area. Additional seismic surveys are being completed in the eastern portion of the project area and a further eight drillholes are planned in this area.

In all, a total of about 60 drillholes will be completed in the project pre-feasibility phase which should be completed by May, 1995. Assays for drillholes APP 94-21 through APP 94-30 are presently underway and results will shortly be available.

The Udon Thani potash concession, in which Asia Pacific Resources Ltd. holds a 75% interest, is located about 500 kms north of Bangkok and covers an area of 2,333 sq. kms. -0-
