LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 18, 2000

Entertainment and television.com that broadcast and cable networks, Hollywood studios, advertisers, and new media providers will soon be able to access the next generation of television research via a new online preview house. The Virtual Preview House will be created through an ASI Entertainment and television.com partnership.

Virtual Preview House will reside on television.com, a new television portal that provides viewers with a gateway to the television of today and tomorrow. Viewers will watch Internet streams of programs, commercials, and promos and provide evaluations. ASI will also introduce its new Virtual Dial, a mouse-driven device that collects viewers' moment-to-moment response to what they are viewing.

The Virtual Preview House will combine the benefits of Internet tracking and online technology with the research skills and experience of ASI, a forty-year-old company that has pioneered new methods of testing television programming and advertising.

"This is the natural next step in ASI's evolutionary process to better understand viewers," said Bill Taylor, ASI's President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. "ASI has an exceptional depth of knowledge and experience in understanding television viewers," said Larry Namer, television.com's CEO. "With ASI and other network television partners joining us, television.com will find new ways to use the Internet as a tool to help viewers easily find and organize their viewing choices in the age of new television."

Paul Lenburg, ASI's Chief Consultant and veteran researcher, said, "If in the `60s, `70s and `80s, ASI's original Preview House - the 400 seat testing theater in Hollywood - was considered the gold standard, Virtual Preview House is the logical addition to ASI's current platinum standard services." Lenburg added, "On-line research must meet the high standards of scientific sampling, otherwise you end up with a lot of meaningless man-on-the-street opinions; Virtual Preview House will raise the bar for on-line research validity in televisual media."
