ASHTABULA, OHIO WOMAN WINS MERCURY VILLAGER

CLEVELAND, March 1 /PRNewswire/ -- A pharmacy technician from Ashtabula, Ohio won a 1993 Mercury Villager minivan in a drawing on the final day of the Cleveland Auto Show Sunday (Feb. 28).
Carol McConnell, employed at Hoffman's Pharmacy in Ashtabula, and her husband, Randy, employed at a nearby chemical plant, will get the front-wheel-drive minivan in about a month from Ford Motor Company's Ohio Assembly Plant in Avon Lake, which is working overtime to produce the hot-selling vehicle.
The McConnells, who have two children, now own two non-Ford vehicles, "but were going to get rid of one of them and keep the Villager because there's more room for the whole family," said Mrs. McConnell.
Mrs. McConnell was one of eight daily prize winners at the Lincoln- Mercury exhibit at the show. The eight returned to the show Sunday for the final "reverse" drawing, with last name selected winning the Villager. Assisting were Ohio Assembly Plant Manager David Porter and Cleveland L-M dealer Harry Lum.
About 15,000 Villagers were sold in the last quarter of 1992, and there are orders for close to 50,000 vehicles nationwide. Villager has captured a full percent of the industry's minivan market.
