 ASHLAND OIL: DANSBY NAMED TREASURER; TO BE ELECTED


ADMINISTRATIVE VICE PRESIDENT; PECKO NAMED VICE PRESIDENT, PLANNING
 ASHLAND, Ky, Dec. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- John W. Dansby has been named treasurer of Ashland Oil, Inc. (NYSE: ASH), according to John R. Hall, chairman and chief executive officer.
 The appointment is effective Feb. 1, 1992. Dansby is also to be elected administrative vice president at the company's Jan. 30, 1992, board meeting.
 In this position, Dansby will be responsible for all of the corporation's treasury and financing activities, including investment and commercial banking relations and investment and credit activities. He will succeed J. Marvin Quin II who has been named chief financial officer. Dansby will report to Quin.
 Dansby joined Ashland in 1975 as a staff analyst and was named a long-range planner and economist for Ashland Petroleum Company, a division of Ashland Oil, the following year. In 1977, he returned to Ashland Oil as manager of federal energy programs. In 1981, he was named vice president for strategic planning and became vice president of planning in 1984.
 Born in Logan, W.Va., and reared in Ashland, Ky., Dansby is an economics graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, earned an M.B.A. from Emory University and received his doctorate in economics from the University of Kentucky.
 In addition, Hall announced that Carl A. Pecko has been named vice president of planning to succeed Dansby, effective Feb. 1, 1992.
 Pecko will be responsible for all planning and analysis functions pertaining to the corporation's various business activities. He will also report to Quin.
 Pecko came to Ashland in 1974 and held several financial positions before being named manager of project finance in 1983. He was later promoted to director of project finance in 1988 and became director of financial analysis in 1989.
 A native of Cardington, Ohio, Pecko earned a bachelor's degree from the Ohio State University and an M.B.A. from Xavier University.
