Allen Systems Group, Inc. (ASG), a software and services provider to Global-5000 companies, today announced the release of ASG-Manager Products(TM), version 2.5. High-performance repository technology such as ASG-Manager is a key to understanding the increasing complexity of mainframe-centric information technology environments.

Major enhancements in ASG-Manager Products 2.5 include:

-- The creation of a new ISPF panel-driven installation facility greatly
simplifies new installations

-- The Manager Products Server Facility (MPSF) is available for purchase and
supports access from a wide range of OS/390 clients.

-- MPSF now provides high-speed access for repositories and MPAIDS using the
OS/390(R) (zSeries(TM)) Data-in-Virtual (DIV) technology.

-- Manager Products' WebEnabler(TM) option is now available for all clients
providing them with Web access to their repositories.

-- Support for IBM's DB2(R), Version 6 -- an important release of IBM's
flagship DBMS. In addition, the ability to tailor DB2-related output is
enhanced, and there are improvements in all areas of DB2 support.

According to Tamme, a recent repository restore run which required more than six hours under the previous release required only 30 minutes. Extended impact-analysis runs dropped from 90 to 20 seconds.
