ASE Receives Raytheon Supplier Scorecard Award; Company Achieved Highest Scores in Meeting Raytheon's Rigorous Supply Chain and Quality Standards.

Advanced Semiconductor Engineering Inc. (ASE, TAIEX: 2311, NYSE: ASX), one of the world's largest semiconductor packaging and testing companies, announced today that Raytheon Systems Limited, located in Glenrothes, Fife, Scotland, has honored ASE as their top supplier for service and distribution in their recent quarterly Supplier Scorecard awards.

The Scorecard award was devised by Raytheon in 2002 as a means of promoting and sharing good practices across their "preferred supplier" list for Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) suppliers. With almost 1,600 suppliers, Raytheon decided that they needed to simplify the process of selecting suppliers in order to save time and money, and operate more efficiently.

"The Scorecard helps us to standardise the suppliers we use across the two Raytheon U.K. sites which can both increase efficiency and save money," commented Jim Sneddon, commodity manager, Raytheon.
