"We want writers and publishers to know that when their music gets played on an Ecast-powered Digital Jukebox, they will receive accurate reporting and compensation for all usage," said Ecast vice president of rights and licensing, Lisa Tiver. "Ecast's rapidly growing Network is not only securely delivering digital music for public performance for increasing revenues, it has also become an effective promotional channel."

Under the terms of the deal, ASCAP gets detailed performance information on the more than 140,000 songs performed on the Ecast-powered Digital Jukeboxes. All usage is accurately recorded and will be used to report to and compensate ASCAP's writer and publisher members. Ecast powers the only broadband-enabled, pay-per-use digital jukeboxes available in the U.S. marketplace today; all Ecast-powered Digital Jukeboxes are covered by this license.

Executives at Ecast and ASCAP worked diligently for months to complete the deal.
