ASBC announces appointment of new board.The American Society of Brewing Chemists The ASBC is a professional organization of scientists and technical professionals in the brewing, malting, and allied industries. It publishes an journal, the Journal of the American Society of Brewing Chemists, usually four times a year. The following ASBC leadership was installed June 11-15, 2005 during the ASBC Annual Meeting in Savannah, Georgia Savannah is a city located in (and the county seat of) Chatham County, Georgia (USA). The city's population was 128,500 in 2005, according to the most recent U.S. Census estimate. Savannah was the first colonial and state capital of Georgia. . The new ASBC president is Gregory P. Casey, director of multi-site optimization in brewing services at Coors Brewing Company, Golden, Colorado The City of Golden is a home rule municipality that is the county seat of Jefferson County, Colorado, United States. Golden lies along Clear Creek at the eastern edge of the foothills of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. . Karen DeVries continues on the board as president-elect. DeVries works with the Analytical Services Group in the Technical Center of Anheuser-Busch, in St. Louis, MO. Michael J. Joyce, a microbiology chemistry process manager in the Product Control Laboratory in Coors Brewing Co., Golden, CO, now serves as ASBC vice president. Timothy J. Kostelecky, general manager for the Advanced Products Division of John I. Haas, Yakima, Washington, is past president. Xiang S.Yin, continues on the board as ASBC secretary. Yin is the technical manager for Cargill Malt Americas, based out of Prairie Malt Limited, Saskatchewan, Canada. Rebecca Newman also continues as board treasurer. Newman is director of quality assurance at Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., Chico, California. It is owned by SABMiller. Miller owns breweries in Albany, Georgia; Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin; Eden, North Carolina; Fort Worth, Texas; Irwindale, California; Milwaukee, Wisconsin and , Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The American Society of Brewing Chemists is a technical association that focuses on the science and technology of brewing. ASBC says it aims to bring members together to resolve technical problems on an industry-wide basis, keep them current on the technical needs of the brewing industry, and anticipating future concerns. |
