Sales of products and services were $791.0 million in the first quarter of 1995, compared with $443.0 million in the same period of 1994. Had SPCC been consolidated in Asarco's financial statements in the first quarter of 1994, sales of products and services would have been $579.7 million.

Asarco produced 139,900 tons (Transparent Optical Networking Services) A marketing term for providing dark fiber to a customer. SPCC contributed $21.6 million to Asarco's net earnings in the first quarter reflecting higher copper and molybdenum prices. SPCC mined 64,200 tons of copper and 1.6 million pounds of molybdenum in the first quarter of 1995 compared with 66,700 tons of copper and 1.5 million pounds of molybdenum in the year earlier period.
