ISO 14001 Registration is an environmental management system certification designated by the International Organization for Standardization International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Organization for determining standards in most technical and nontechnical fields. Founded in Geneva in 1947, its membership includes more than 100 countries. (ISO), a worldwide federation composed of member organizations from more than 90 countries. Headquartered in The Netherlands, ISO was founded in 1946 to promote the development of international manufacturing, trade and communications standards. Globe is Asarco's first unit to attain ISO 14000 registration. Asarco's Amarillo (Texas) Copper Refinery's cathode process attained ISO 9002 Registration in 1994. The ISO 9000 series is a set of generic standards that provide quality assurance requirements and quality management guidance, requiring a company to document what it does and do what it documents. Asarco's Globe Specialty Metals Plant has produced high-purity metals, specialty compounds and alloys for more than 30 years.
