A celebration just like grandpa - or great-grandpa - used to enjoy is gearing up in the Victorian village The Victorian Village is a neighborhood located north and near west of downtown Columbus, Ohio, USA. It is an older area with a fair number of established trees for an urban setting.  of Ferndale, where the Humboldt County Humboldt County is the name of three counties in the United States:
  • Humboldt County, California
  • Humboldt County, Iowa
  • Humboldt County, Nevada
 Fair will run Aug. 8-18. Themed after the town's celebrations 100 years ago, the fair will include the traditional exhibits of farm animals and crops, entertainment and food, but will also include horse racing horse racing, trials of speed involving two or more horses. It includes races among harnessed horses with one of two particular gaits, among saddled Thoroughbreds (or, less frequently, quarterhorses) on a flat track, or among saddled horses over a turf course with  along a half-mile-long track.

Local bakers will also try to match the record of 1953 bakers, baking, frosting frosting

Eureka: Fort Humboldt Days runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 3 and 4 at Fort Humboldt State Park, off Broadway at Highland Avenue, featuring examples of military camp life, domestic arts and crafts arts and crafts, term for that general field of applied design in which hand fabrication is dominant. The term was coined in England in the late 19th cent. as a label for the then-current movement directed toward the revivifying of the decorative arts. , weapons, artillery pieces, wagons, blacksmithing and volunteers in period costumes. Mammoth Lakes: The town's Fine Arts Festival The Fine Arts Festival ( Turkish: Güzel Sanatlar Festivali) is a yearly festival held at Robert College of Istanbul. It is the largest secondary school festival in Turkey. It has been held annually since 1982 by the Robert College Student Council.  runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 9-11 in the parking lot of Doug Kittredge's Sports Shop, at the corner of Highway 205 (Main Street) and Forest Trail. Colorado: Vail Valley will host the seventh annual Vail International Dance Festival Aug. 2-11. Included will be performances featuring artists and principal dancers from the Joffrey Ballet of Chicago, the New York City Ballet New York City Ballet, one of the foremost American dance companies of the 20th cent. It was founded by Lincoln Kirstein and George Balanchine as the Ballet Society in 1946. , the Paris Opera and the Jeune Ballet de France. Ensemble Series performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Aug 2, 3 and 4; Paul Mitchell International Evenings of Dance will be at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 9 and 10. Ticket prices range from $25 to $75. New Mexico: Albuquerque's Summerfest runs from 5 to 10 p.m. Aug. 3 along historical Route 66 on Central Avenue featuring ethnic foods and cultures, entertainment and crafts. Admission is free. Information: (505) 768-3483.
