Train buffs will get a treat Feb. 16-18 at the fourth Dunsmuir Winter Railfair, which for the first time will offer a self-guided photography tour.

This year, a 1959 engine and Dynomometer car on loan from the California State Railroad Museum The California State Railroad Museum in Old Sacramento is a tribute to the role of the "iron horse" in connecting California to the rest of the nation.

The museum features 21 restored locomotives and railroad cars, some dating back to 1862.

Dunsmuir is off Interstate 5 about 300 miles north of San Francisco, and still has a working Amtrak Amtrak, the National Railroad Passenger Corp., authorized to operate virtually all intercity passenger railroad routes in the United States. Amtrak was created by Congress in 1970 in response to more than two decades of continuous operating deficits by privately run  depot; it is also home to the Shasta Division archives for train scholars and genealogists. Cloverdale: Set for Feb. 16-19, the Cloverdale Citrus Fair salutes the area's many orange groves and features a parade, arts and crafts arts and crafts, term for that general field of applied design in which hand fabrication is dominant. The term was coined in England in the late 19th cent. as a label for the then-current movement directed toward the revivifying of the decorative arts. , games and contests, entertainment and food. Palm Springs: The 19th annual Italian Festival will run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Feb. 4 in the Palm Springs Pavilion, featuring food and entertainment. Information: (619) 320-5044.

Temecula: Local wineries will participate in the valley's seventh annual Vintner's Barrel Tasting from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 3 and 4. Admission is $35 per person. Information: (909) 699-3626.
