Lovers' holiday celebrated on February 14, the feast day of St. Valentine, one of two 3rd-century Roman martyrs of the same name. St.

El Dorado County: The annual Gold Discovery Day Celebration at Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park is a U. S. state park in California, USA. It marks the discovery of gold by James W. Marshall in 1848. The park grounds include much of the historic town of Coloma, California, which is now considered a ghost town.  will be staged Jan. 24, featuring skits, gold-panning demonstrations, speakers, videos, music and historic house tours. Holtville: The town will celebrate its annual Carrot Festival Jan. 20-28, marking the area's agricultural heritage with carrot recipes and food, arts and crafts arts and crafts, term for that general field of applied design in which hand fabrication is dominant. Long Beach: The Radio-Controlled Hobby Expo, Jan. 19-21, showcases action model hobbies, trains, boats, planes and kites. The show is in Exhibit Hall A at the Long Beach Convention Center. Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for children. Information: (310) 436-3661.

Arizona: Jan. 22-24, Cave Creek/Carefree will host County Ho Down Week in honor of Super Bowl XXX Super Bowl XXX was the 30th championship game of the modern National Football League (NFL). The game was played on January 28, 1996 at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona following the 1995 regular season. , featuring rodeo and bull riding, clogger contests, chili cookoff, fast-draw contests, square dancing, fiddlers and cowboy poetry contests.
