ASAP GETAWAYS\ART, MUSIC SPORT ITALIAN FLAIR IN SLO STREET FEST.

San Luis Obispo San Luis Obispo (săn l`ĭs ōbĭs`pō), city (1990 pop. 41,958), seat of San Luis Obispo co., S Calif., near San Luis Obispo Bay; inc. 1856.  will celebrate Italy's tradition of street painting with a rainbow of art, food and music at the 4th annual I Madonnari Italian Street Painting Festival.

Local artists, students and children will decorate 200 pavement squares in the Mission San Luis Obispo garden courtyard and adjacent streets with chalk drawings during the April 27-28 event. An Italian market and live music will be held adjacent to the painting, entertaining an expected 10,000 people.

Festival hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days; admission is free. The mission is at the corner of Broad and Monterey streets. Information: (805) 781-2777.
