ASAE weighs in on Senate governance review.


At the request of Senate Finance Committee Chairman Charles Grassley (R-IA) and ranking Democrat Max Baucus Max Sieben Baucus (born December 11 1941) is the senior United States Senator from Montana and is a member of the Democratic Party. Baucus is currently chairman of the United States Senate Committee on Finance and 10th Longest-serving current Senator.  (D-MT), the Independent Sector, Washington, D.C., recently convened a panel of nonprofit groups to provide recommendations on issues related to governance, transparency and financial accountability, nonprofit oversight, and the legal framework for regulating charities and foundations. The panel is composed of 25 nonprofit and philanthropic leaders from a wide spectrum of public charities and private foundations from all parts of the country.

Concerned about how any findings or recommendations regarding charities and foundations might impact other nonprofit organizations, particularly 501(c)(6) organizations, ASAE ASAE American Society of Association Executives

Born in Belfast, Ireland, GrahamImmigrated in 1836 to the United States with his parents, who settled in Brooklyn, New York. He attended the public schools of Brooklyn.

In it he urged the committee to consider unintended consequences for other tax-exempt organizations as it moves toward drafting legislation and to continue to use ASAE as a resource in their deliberations.

Graham recently accepted an invitation to join a working group providing recommendations to the Independent Sector's panel.
