ASACA Announces PoINT Jukebox Manager Support for TeraCart Series DVD-RAM/R Libraries; Provides Transparent Read/Write Access, Volume and Disk Spanning and UDF Support.

ASACA Corp., a leading developer of high-capacity, high-performance data storage solutions, announced today that PoINT Jukebox A storage device for multiple sets of CD-ROMs, DVDs, tape cartridges or disk modules. Using carousels, robot arms and other methods, a jukebox physically moves the storage medium from its assigned location to an optical or magnetic station for reading and writing.  Manager Version 4.0 from PoINT Software & Systems GmbH, supports ASACA's award-winning line of TeraCart(R) DVD-RAM/R Digital Virtual Libraries (DVLs). Beyond transparent read/write access, Jukebox Manager 4.0 now provides volume sets and media spanning, Universal Disk Format (storage, standard) Universal Disk Format - (UDF) A CD-ROM file system standard that is required for DVD ROMs. UDF is the OSTA's replacement for the ISO 9660 file system used on CD-ROMs, but will be mostly used on DVD.  (UDF (1) (Universal Disk Format) A file system for optical media developed by the Optical Storage Technology Association (OSTA), www.osta.org, based on the ECMA 167/ISO 13346 standard. ) support as well as the logical "partitioning" of entire library volumes. Combined with TeraCart's flexible, fully automated, near-line archival and retrieval capabilities, Jukebox Manager 4.0 assures networked environments seamless support, enhanced security and simultaneous multiple user access to files of any capacity.

With a transfer rate of 2.78MB/sec, the ability to have up to 24 drives online simultaneously, ASACA's TeraCart offers nearly 14TB of scaleable storage and the freedom to mix CD, DVD DVD: see digital versatile disc.
