ASA/ASE Mechanical, Collision Technicians of the Year Named


The Automotive Service Association (ASA Asa (ā`sə), in the Bible, king of Judah, son and successor of Abijah. He was a good king, zealous in his extirpation of idols. The award recognizes the ASA Mechanical and Collision Division members who achieved the highest score on the 2008 ASE (Adaptive Server Enterprise) A relational DBMS from Sybase that runs on Windows NT/2000, Linux and a variety of Unix platforms. ASE is a comprehensive and robust data management product with a long history dating back to the late 1980s.  master automobile certification test and the 2008 master collision repair/refinish certification test.

Wagenblast, 47, is the owner of Mark's Automotive, Inc., in Bend, OR, which he started in 1988. He has been in automotive service and repair for 26 years, a career that began soon after he graduated from high school and earned an associate degree of applied science in automotive technology from Central Oregon Community College Central Oregon Community College is a community college located in Bend, Oregon, United States. . He has been an ASE master technician for more than 20 years.

Wagenblast said that winning the award is "truly an honor and the highlight of my professional career. My belief has always been to provide my customers with the best in service and to always put their best interest first. To accomplish this I believe an investment in continuing education and training has played a key role."

The 56-year-old Loy owns Mike Loy's Collision, Inc., in Lewisburg, OH, and has been an ASA member for 15 years and active in the collision repair industry since 1972. He has been an I-CAR I-CAR Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair  instructor for 19 years and is the lead I-CAR instructor for Ohio. He won the Instructor of the Year award in 1996 for the South Central Region.

Ten days after being informed of the ASA/ASE award, Loy was congratulated by ASE on also winning the Snap-on/ASE Master Collision Repair and Refinish re·fin·ish
