The contracts are for a prestigious branch of the military to detect explosives and other threats. These systems will be delivered over the next 6 months.

"AS&E's Z(R) Backscatter backscatter

Backscatter technology allows an operator to image hidden organic materials and is particularly effective for finding explosives and sheet bombs," Ralph Sheridan, Chief Executive Officer and President explained.

"The global defense market for the protection of military facilities and personnel from terrorist attacks presents a significant opportunity for AS&E's cargo and vehicle inspection systems," he noted.

AS&E(R) develops and manufactures sophisticated X-ray inspection products for critical detection and security applications. AS&E(R)'s patented Z(R) Backscatter technology detects plastic explosives, illegal drugs, and other contraband, even when artfully concealed in complex backgrounds by terrorists and smugglers.
