Photographic art

to be auctioned at UO

Prints by more than 60 photographers will be sold to the highest bidder HIGHEST BIDDER, contracts. He who, at an auction, offers the greatest price for the property sold.

 today during the 26th Photography at Oregon Auction. The proceeds will support photography exhibitions and programs at the University of Oregon The University of Oregon is a public university located in Eugene, Oregon. The university was founded in 1876, graduating its first class two years later. The University of Oregon is one of 60 members of the Association of American Universities.  Museum of Art.

The auction opens at noon, and bidding begins at 1 p.m. in the Alumni Lounge of Gerlinger Hall, 1468 University St.

More than 70 photographs, ranging from figure studies to assemblages to landscapes, have been donated to this year's auction by contemporary photographers including Brian Lanker and Dan Powell of Eugene.

Since 1966, the Photography at Oregon Committee has worked with the museum to promote photography and bring contemporary and historical photography exhibitions to the university. For more information, contact the art museum at 346-3027.

Eugene illustrator included in national anthology

Amy Crehore of Eugene is one of 192 artists included in ``American Illustration 22,'' a hardcover book. More than 6,000 entries were submitted in this juried competition, and judges selected two of Crehore's oil paintings: "Checkers" and "The Organ Grinder organ grinder

Studies for library artwork go on show at airport

Photographs, sketches and scale models by the eight artists who contributed to the collection at the new Eugene Public Library are on display at the Eugene airport Eugene Airport (IATA: EUG, ICAO: KEUG), also known as Mahlon Sweet Field, is a public airport located 7 miles (11 km) northwest of Eugene, in Lane County, Oregon. .

"Ex Libris: Artwork of the Eugene Public Library" can be viewed by ticketed passengers through Feb. 13 in the Gallery at the Airport.

The artists are James Carpenter

The Eugene Public Library features the largest collection of publicly financed art assembled in this region since the building of the Hult Center two decades ago. Chosen to complement the architecture of the library, the artwork also intends to intrigue and entertain.

The Gallery at the Airport is a project of the Lane Arts Council and is coordinated by Dena Brown.

Satoko exhibit includes paintings of Italian ruins

Born in Kyoto, educated in Japan and the United States, Satoko has gone to Siena, Italy, every summer since 1994 to paint and draw.

"Transience" - an exhibit of her watercolors, oil paintings and drawings of Tuscany and Roman ruins - can be seen through Dec. 16 at the White Lotus Gallery, 767 Willamette St.

Satoko graduated from the University of Oregon with a post-baccalaureate degree in art history and obtained her master of fine arts Noun 1. Master of Fine Arts - a master's degree in fine arts

of St. Nicholas exhibit

In conjunction with its current exhibition, "In Search of the Real St. Nicholas: Orthodox Icons from American Collections," the Hallie Ford Museum of Art The Hallie Ford Museum of Art is the art museum of Willamette University in Salem, Oregon, United States. It is the third largest art museum in Oregon.[1] History

 in Salem will show films about the rise and fall of Byzantium on Tuesday and Dec. 2, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. both days, in the Roger Hull Lecture Hall.

On Dec. 6, the feast day of St. Nicholas, the Rev. George Gray and the St. Nicholas Orthodox Church Choir will conduct a prayer service from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. in the study gallery, where the icons are on display.

Admission to the films and the prayer service is free.

The icon exhibit will continue through Jan. 3, but the museum will be closed from Dec. 24 through Jan. 1 for winter break. The museum at 700 State St. (corner of State and Cottage streets) in downtown Salem.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for seniors and students. Children under 12 are admitted without charge, and Tuesday is a free day.
