More than 20 members of the Arts Council of the Conejo Valley will participate in the faire, presenting 22 workshops, classes, demonstrations and performances. Class participants will try out a variety of visual arts techniques. Those interested in the performing arts will have a chance to sing along with other audience members, or sing a solo of their own choosing. ``To have this many classes go the first time is great,'' Buchanan said. Author of ``The Young Person's Guide to the Opera,'' Ariane Csonka Comstock will offer two free presentations on opera appreciation for the nonindoctrinated - one directed toward children, and the other for adults. As part of the Arts Faire, Ayers will demonstrate watercolor technique for onlookers. The artist learned of the faire through the event coordinator, Margaret Travers. Impressed with the concept of partnering visual and performing arts, and impressed by the large roster of professionals affiliated with the Arts Council, Ayers decided to join the organization. A large following of admirers is sure to turn out for Ayers' watercolor demonstration. An artist of depth and one who paints because he must paint, however, Ayers is prepared for any outcome. ``I'll be painting and lecturing,'' he said. ``If no one is there . . . I'll still be painting and lecturing.'' The schedule of Arts Faire activities includes pastel portraiture, landscape painting, monoprinting, sculpture, silk painting, ``people painting,'' drawing for children and a class for the whole family titled ``Exploring Art.'' Visual artists Judy Koenig, Iris Carignan, Phyllis J. Doyon, Gene Schklair, Smadar Knobler, Sara C. Anderson, Parmlee Duke, Darlene Appleford, Joanne Stellwagen, Terry Spehar-Fahey and Ray Ayers, and performing artists Ariane Csonka Comstock and Suzanne Valentino will instruct. In addition to the classes, several complimentary concerts are scheduled to take place.
