ARTISTS WILL HOST COWBOY POETS, SHOW RECEPTION SET THURSDAY.

NEWHALL - Women Artists of the West will hold its fourth annual art exhibit and sale in Hart Hall from Thursday through Sunday at Hart Park in Newhall as part of the city of Santa Clarita's Cowboy Festival.

WAOW WAOW Women Artists of the West  will hold a reception at Hart Hall for the cowboy poets and other festival participants from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. The reception is open to the public. That same evening, several WAOW members will participate in a ``Quick Draw'' at the Hart Mansion, where artists have just 60 minutes to complete a painting, frame it, and put it up for auction to the event ticket holders.

A percentage of all art sales during the WAOW show will be donated to Wildlife Waystation The Wildlife WayStation is a 160-acre refuge in northern Los Angeles County dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating wild and exotic animals. A charitable corporation located within the boundaries of Angeles National Forest, the facility was founded in 1976 by animal activist , a nonprofit haven for wild animals WILD ANIMALS. Animals in a state of nature; animals ferae naturae. Vide Animals; Ferae naturae.  situated in the mountains above Tujunga. Wildlife Waystation will have exhibits at Hart Park on Saturday.

WAOW is an organization of women artists working in diverse mediums and styles. Art featured in the show includes original works in oil, watercolor, mixed-media pieces, pencil, pastel, mezzotint mezzotint (mĕt`sətĭnt, mĕd`zə–, mĕz`ə–) [Ital.,=halftint], method of copper or steel engraving in tone. A Dutch officer, Ludwig von Siegen, is given credit for the invention of mezzotint c.1640.  and other fine art print processes, and sculptures in bronze and clay. Subject matter includes horses, figures, wildlife, landscape, still life and abstract works.

Women Artists of the West show hours are 2 to 8 p.m., with a reception for cowboy poets from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., with wild animals from Wildlife Waystation from 2 to 5 p.m. and a special presentation at 4 p.m. Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
