ARTISTS CAN HELP MAKE NEXT CALIFORNIA BEAR.

SANTA CLARITA Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  -- Applications are being accepted from artists interested in creating artwork for Santa Clarita's next California bear, fiberglass fiberglass, thread made from glass. It is made by forcing molten glass through a kind of sieve, thereby spinning it into threads. Fiberglass is strong, durable, and impervious to many caustics and to extreme temperatures.  sculptures that are placed around town.

The artwork would be for the city's fourth public art bear and the theme is transportation in and around the the city.

The ``Transit Bear'' will displayed at the city's new Transit Maintenance Facility, 28250 Constellation Constellation, ship
Constellation (kŏnstĭlā`shən), U.S. frigate, launched in 1797. It was named by President Washington for the constellation of 15 stars in the U.S. flag of that time.
 Road, Valencia, where local buses are maintained.

Each artist is requested to develop a work of art to be implemented on a bear, 4 feet wide, 5 feet tall, 9 feet long.

Applicants must be adults who live within a 100-mile radius of Santa Clarita. Artists can apply in teams.
