Other pieces in the series so far are ``Masculus Icon No. 1,'' ``Cleopatra,'' ``End of a Nocturne'' and ``Kadjur'' (Healer). Richardson's goal is to create icons of color not of the white race; - commonly meaning, esp. in the United States, of negro blood, pure or mixed.

``Cleopatra'' and ``Kadjur'' currently are on display at Art & Soul Gallery, 24963 Pico Canyon Road, Stevenson Ranch Stevenson Ranch, California (in the 91381 ZIP Code) is a Los Angeles County, USA, unincorporated community west of Santa Clarita a few miles south of Six Flags Magic Mountain amusement park. Specializing in African-American figurative work, Richardson prides himself on setting his work apart from the mainstream, in part by his use of glazing and a rich color palette similar to the European masters.

Richardson's exposure to the Berkeley art scene in his early days, and his fascination for the large abstract figurative works of African-American artists of the times carries over in his work.

``I am very excited about the Tilfords' recent purchase,'' Richardson said. ``Their understanding and commitment to fine art and their community is impressive.''
