ARTHUR ANDERSEN CELEBRATES 50 YEARS OF SERVICE BY GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY

 SEATTLE, Sept. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- In conjunction with their 50th anniversary, the Seattle offices of Arthur Andersen and Andersen Consulting are giving back to the educational community by pledging $250,000 ($50 thousand a year for five years), the company announced today. The Fund for Interactive Technology will provide the University of Washington School of Business Administration with high-powered computer workstations and some of the most sophisticated computer tools now available to managers and companies. Arthur Andersen office managing partner, John Moga, said, "We're committed to building partnerships between business and education." The fund will also benefit the new Foster Business Administration Library.
 Arthur Andersen is a leading global accounting firm that offers audit, tax, business advisory and specialty consulting services. Andersen Consulting is an international management and technology consulting organization.
 Arthur Andersen's Seattle office opened its doors in September, 1943, with eight accountants and two clients, Washington Energy (now Washington Natural Gas) and Weyerhaeuser. Fifty years later, the Seattle offices of Arthur Andersen and Andersen Consulting employ over 400 people serving nearly 200 clients, including Washington Natural Gas and Weyerhaeuser.
 Among the activities planned for their 50th anniversary, the Seattle office will host a client appreciation event, an alumni reunion, and an employee party. A special retrospective exhibit will showcase the growth of the Seattle office and the changes the past 50 years have brought.
