ART SUMS UP THE CITY.


AN ART student was thrilled to present one of her own paintings to Town Hall dignitaries.

Newcastle College Newcastle College is a further and higher education college in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. It is the largest college of its kind in the North East and claims to offer more courses in more subjects than any of its geographical competitors.  student Sarah Grady presented her work to the Lord Mayor of Newcastle and the Lady Mayoress Lady Mayoress is the term traditionally applied to the wife of a Lord Mayor of a major city in the United Kingdom or a capital city of an Australian state. It is not an elected office. , councillors David and Margaret Wood.

Sarah, who recently graduated in fine art at the college, was the winner of a competition called Gift to the City, which invited students to design a piece of art to be presented to the Lord Mayor.

The idea was to create a piece reflecting the college's longstanding relationship with Newcastle.

Mounted on to canvas, the picture shows city destinations using an overlaying effect and combines the use of both photography and art and will be displayed in the Lord Mayors Chambers.

Sarah, 26, of Gosforth, Newcastle, said: "I was absolutely thrilled when my concept was chosen.

"This was a fantastic project to be involved in and I hope that the Lord Mayor and the council will enjoy it for many years to come."
