ART NOTES.Byline: The Register-Guard Ceramics artist to lead Art Walk on Friday Eugene ceramics artist Judy Alison hosts the First Friday First Friday is a city-wide public event that occurs on the first Friday of every month. The events may take on many purposes, including art gallery openings and social networking. Art Walk, which begins at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Jacobs Gallery in the Hult Center. The Jacobs is showing `The Gift of Plein Air plein air or plein-air adj. 1. Of or being a style of painting produced out of doors in natural light. 2. Taking place outdoors: plein air dining. ,' an exhibit of landscape paintings by Amy Beller, Bets Cole and Jerry Ross. Other stops on the free guided walking tour of downtown art venues are: Fenario Gallery, 881 Willamette St., shows work by Shawn Kawa, who does color pencil illustrations centered on an aboriginal tribe of Australia. New Zone Gallery, 164 W. Broadway, marks its grand opening at a new location with work by Kimberly Gladen. Eugene Waldorf School, 126 W. Broadway, has an exhibition of work by students. DIVA, 110 W. Making his debut in 1995 with the Fremantle Dockers, he was drafted with the number 1 pick in the 1994 AFL Draft. An exhibit of new pastel and oil paintings by artist Jeff White opens with a reception at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Opus6ix, 22 W. Seventh Ave. The exhibit runs through Jan. 28. Much of White's work is inspired by the landscape of the Columbia Gorge and Oregon's coast, mountains and rivers. Exhibit of contemporary prints comes to LCC (Leadless Chip Carrier, Leaded Chip Carrier) See leadless chip carrier, CLCC and PLCC. 1. LCC - Language for Conversational Computing. Written at CMU in the 1960's. gallery Print Arts Northwest, an exhibit of contemporary prints, opens Monday and runs through January at the Lane Community College Art Department Gallery. Printmaker and book artist Susan Lowdermilk will give a talk in the gallery at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 18; a reception will follow. The prints come from members of Print Arts Northwest, who are from Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Washington and Oregon. The works range in approach from traditional to experimental. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. Realist painter's work shown at Salem museum A small exhibition by Salem painter John Van Dreal opens Saturday and continues through March 4 at the Hallie Ford Museum of Art The Hallie Ford Museum of Art is the art museum of Willamette University in Salem, Oregon, United States. It is the third largest art museum in Oregon.[1] History Hallie Ford Museum of Art officially opened in 1998. at Willamette University Willamette’s College of Liberal Arts is the undergraduate school on campus. The oldest of the graduate programs is the College of Law, founded in 1883 and located in the Truman Wesley Collins Legal Center. in Salem. Organized by the artist and museum director John Olbrantz, "John Van Dreal: Still Lifes and Figures" will feature 13 works created in 2006. A great admirer of the Dutch masters of the 17th and 18th centuries, Van Dreal prefers working in oil paint. Van Dreal has said he wants to create imagery that is rooted in the past but with a contemporary edge. The museum is at 700 State St. in Salem. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for seniors and students. |
