Postmodernist art expert

to speak at OSU

Art historian Douglas Crimp will give a lecture titled `Way Out on a Nut: Daniel Buren's Return to the Guggenheim Museum'at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the LaSells Stewart Center on the Oregon State University Oregon State University, at Corvallis; land-grant and state supported; coeducational; chartered 1858 as Corvallis College, opened 1865. In 1868 it was designated Oregon's land-grant agricultural college and was taken over completely by the state in 1885.  campus in Corvallis. Admission is free.

UO's Schnitzer Museum

receives Korean grant

The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art is an art museum located on the campus of the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon. The original building was designed by Ellis F. Lawrence as part of his "main university quadrangle," now known as the Memorial Quadrangle.  at the University of Oregon The University of Oregon is a public university located in Eugene, Oregon. The university was founded in 1876, graduating its first class two years later. The University of Oregon is one of 60 members of the Association of American Universities.  has won a $20,000 grant from the Korea Foundation.

The museum plans to use the money to increase education and public programs by providing three rural and underserved classrooms in the Eugene/Springfield area with an arts program based on Korean art and culture. The funds build upon the Seoul-based foundation's 2004 grant of $100,000, which established new Korean art galleries in the museum.

Youth art being

shown in Springfield

Three exhibits of youth art are being shown in Springfield this month.

Emerald Art Center, 500 Main St., Springfield, will host two exhibits: a ceramics exhibit with work from Eugene and Springfield high school Springfield High School may refer to:
  • Springfield High School (Colorado) — Springfield, Colorado
  • Springfield High School (Illinois) — Springfield, Illinois
  • Springfield High School (Louisiana) — Springfield, Louisiana
 students; and an exhibit of artwork from throughout the Springfield school district. The third exhibit is at City Hall and celebrates Youth Art Month.

A reception will be held on March 17, for all three exhibits, from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at City Hall and from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Emerald Art Center.
