To throw out (a playing card) from one's hand. b. and found objects, opens with a reception from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Planet Improvement Center, BRING Recycling's new headquarters at 4446 Franklin Blvd. in Glenwood. The exhibit is presented by Outside In, a Portland social service agency serving homeless youth and other low-income people. Taking place outdoors: plein air dining. contest Springfield's First Great Outdoor Art Contest begins at 7 a.m. Saturday at Island Park, 200 West B St. Artists of any age are invited to complete a plein air work in various mediums by 2 p.m. Judging categories will include oil, acrylic, watercolor, mixed media and drawings by adults; art by teens (ages 13-18); art by youth (ages 7-12); and art by children (ages 6 and under). Ribbons will be presented to all entries with first, second and third place ribbons presented in each category. Entrants whose art is awarded a place ribbon will be invited to have their work displayed in a ``Great Outdoor Art Show'' at the Springfield City Hall Gallery during August.
