The Norton Simon Museum is a premier art museum located in Pasadena, California. has long been a favorite of the Ladies Who Lunch Ladies who lunch is a phrase to describe well-off women who meet for lunch socially, normally during the working week. Typically, the women involved are married and non-working. Normally the lunch is in a restaurant, perhaps in a department store during shopping. and students and scholars of art history, its permanent collections saturated with European paintings, drawings, sculpture and tapestries, its works attached with such names as Rembrandt, Manet, El Greco El Greco: see Greco, El. and Rodin. Spending time "Spending Time" is the first single released by Christian artist Stellar Kart. The lyrics describe the band members desire to spend "more time with God". "Sometimes it’s a real struggle to spend time with God. in its galleries is often inspirational, thought-provoking and enlightening. But fun? Like ha-ha fun? Not generally. Three shows on the fall schedule bring a rarely seen playful spirit to the museum. ``The Art of Play,'' running through Dec. 3, takes a look at games and amusements as subjects in art, including chess, card games and dice. Still, this is a serious museum, so don't ask the staff where they put that painting of dogs playing poker Dogs Playing Poker (DPP) refers collectively to a series of sixteen oil paintings by C. M. Coolidge, commissioned in 1903 by Brown & Bigelow to advertise cigars.[1] . ``Pop Culture!'' opening Nov. 16, focuses on the Pop Art movement of the '60s, when artists appreciated - or made fun of - the color and line aspects of everyday products, from Andy Warhol's interpretations of a Brillo box to Roy Lichtenstein's comics-inspired canvases. Other artists on display include Claes Oldenburg Noun 1. Claes Oldenburg - United States sculptor (born in Sweden); a leader of the pop art movement who was noted for giant sculptures of common objects (born in 1929) Claes Thure Oldenburg, Oldenburg , Ed Ruscha and Wayne Thiebaud. Watch a Southern California neighborhood emerge from a dirt pile through the lens of Lewis Baltz in ``Tract House Photographs, 1969-1971,'' also opening Nov. 16. He addresses the ``Brady Bunch'' era of suburban sprawl with black-and-white images of functional details such as concrete walls and aluminum-frame windows. Another modern artist being showcased is California's Richard Diebenkorn in an exhibit of 14 rarely seen gouache gouache (gwäsh): see watercolor painting. gouache Opaque watercolour. Also known as poster paint, designer's colour, and body colour, it differs from transparent watercolour in that the pigments are bound by liquid glue, which is drawings arranged among several oil paintings, including a piece from his Berkeley series. The Diebenkorn show opens Dec. 14. The Norton Museum is at 411 W. Colorado Blvd. near Orange Grove Avenue in Pasadena.
