The collision of innocence, ignorance and violence is a central motif in ``The Coroner Will Performer an Autopsy,'' a collection of de Leon's new paintings on steel at La Luz de Jesus Gallery, 4633 Hollywood Blvd. Hours are noon to 6:30 p.m. daily, through Dec. 29. Virtual reality: West Valley ``realism'' artist Mary Ann Panopoulos describes herself as a portrait painter, but not of formal, chairman-of-the-board-in-a-leather-armchair kind of portraits.

Her oils in canvas depict ordinary people from extraordinary perspectives - side views, God's-eye angles and so on. So there's a certain edge to the title of her show, ``Painting of Everyday Life,'' which is showing through Dec. 31 at the Janss Marketplace, 205 Moorpark Road, Suite F, Thousand Oaks.
