Ironically, Medlynn's new sculpture The New Sculpture refers to a movement in late-nineteenth century British sculpture. After a protracted period of a stylized neoclassicism, sculpture in the last quarter of the century began to explore a greater degree of naturalism and wider range of subject matter. series, ``Core Samples and Earth Works,'' was both delayed and partially inspired by the 1994 Northridge Earthquake The Northridge earthquake occurred on January 17, 1994 at 4:31 AM Pacific Standard Time in the city of Los Angeles, California.
