ARROYO CAMPUS REOPENED FOR OVERFLOW OF STUDENTS.


With elementary schools bulging at the seams, officials will break ground today on a $2.6 million project to update a campus that has been closed for nearly two decades.

Arroyo Elementary School Arroyo Elementary School is a school that is part of the Tustin Unified School District. It serves grades Kindergarten through fifth grade. Its sports teams are known as the Mustangs.

It was originally built in 1965 with expansion in later years.
 at 225 Ulysses St., one of four elementary campuses closed years ago because of declining enrollment, is expected to reopen next fall with 450 students.

For example, Wood Ranch Elementary was built for 600 students, but with portable classrooms now accommodates a population of 776, he said. The district also has changed boundary lines to shift students from crowded schools brought on by an influx of homebuyers.

Schultze said the work on Arroyo Elementary, a K-6 campus that has been closed since 1982, already is under way in order to complete the modernization by fall. The ground-breaking at 4:15 p.m. today is ceremonial.
