ARRMS continues to move forward.Members of the American American, river, 30 mi (48 km) long, rising in N central Calif. in the Sierra Nevada and flowing SW into the Sacramento River at Sacramento. The main topics discussed at the ARRMS meeting included the election of officers, with Bill Roberts being named ARRMS president; development of an ARRMS Web site; and scheduling of the World Congress: Science & Medicine of the Marathon, which was postponed until October 2006. Elections for the ARRMS First Vice-President, Second Vice-President and Secretary-Treasurer took place in January and results will be announced to members via e-mail. These results will also be included in the spring issue of the AMAA Journal and posted on AMAA's Web site (www.amaasportsmed.org), the temporary home for ARRMS. The new Web site for ARRMS is in the process of being developed; its expected launch date is March 1. The primary goal for this site will be to provide an outlet for ARRMS members to effectively help others with race management and runner education. The next ARRMS meeting will be held in Chicago on October 8, 2005, prior to the Chicago Marathon. At that time, elected officers will be officially introduced and projects, such as developing a race injury database to track important statistics, will be discussed in depth. In addition to collecting data on participant age/gender and race distance, the group will be looking at ways to record events that occur in relation to weather conditions, fluid types ingested in·gest tr.v. in·gest·ed, in·gest·ing, in·gests 1. ARRMS has the potential to make a difference in the care provided to runners around the world but the organization needs your support to grow and achieve its goals.
