ARRAIGNMENT SET FOR MAN IN SHOOTING OF NEPHEW.Byline: Daily News BURBANK - A 54-year-old Burbank man is scheduled to be arraigned arraign v. to bring a criminal defendant before the court at which time the charges are presented to him/her, the opportunity to enter a plea (or ask for a continuance to plead) is given, a determination of whether the party has a lawyer is made (or whether a lawyer needs to be appointed), if necessary setting the amount of bail, and future appearances are scheduled. (See: appearance, arraignment) Thursday in the fatal shooting of his 35-year-old nephew, officials said Tuesday. Phillip Norman Perry, who shared a house with his nephew in the 2200 block of North Keystone Street, is accused of shooting the young man in the head and body about 2 a.m. Monday, said Detective Chris Racina. Police were called by neighbors who reported hearing gunshots, Racina said. Perry surrendered to police peacefully. Formal charges have not yet been filed against him. Perry told police he had fired in self-defense, Racina said. Police refused to release the dead man's name, saying his relatives had not yet been notified. |
